Canada Prays for Jamaica – A National Virtual Prayer Relay Across Canada
Posted: October 21st, 2026
The Global Jamaica Diaspora Council Canada is pleased to announce Canada Prays for Jamaica – A National Virtual Prayer Relay Across Canada, taking place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:45 PM Eastern Time.
Under the theme “One Nation. Many Provinces. One Voice in Prayer,” this national initiative will unite faith leaders, diaspora representatives, community organisations, Jamaicans, and friends of Jamaica from coast to coast in prayer, thanksgiving, and solidarity with our beloved homeland.
As we approach the first anniversary of Hurricane Melissa, we come together to reflect on Jamaica's resilience, give thanks, and pray for continued recovery, restoration, and national development.
We are especially honoured by the participation of Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, who will deliver a special address, alongside other distinguished government and diplomatic representatives.
We are also grateful for the participation and support of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, with clergy representing several Canadian regions joining other Christian faith leaders in this national prayer relay. Their involvement reflects the important role of faith communities in strengthening our diaspora, fostering unity, and supporting Jamaica through prayer and service.
This gathering represents more than a single afternoon of prayer. It is an opportunity to strengthen relationships across denominations, provinces, communities, and generations while demonstrating our shared commitment to Jamaica.
