Yesterday, Patricia Lopez, the Women and Children's Ministries director at the Ontario Conference, presented her innovative "Soul Sisters" program to the North American Division (NAD) Children's Ministries Advisory Committee. The presentation highlighted the program's unique approach to fostering cross-generational mentorship, leadership, and sisterhood in Christ.
The Soul Sisters program, with its 28 active church chapters and two in schools, mentors young girls aged 12-18 and women in their 20s and 30s, referred to as "Salt Mamas." The initiative aims to build a supportive community by changing the narrative of being 'salty'—an urban slang term for angry, bitter, or rude—to embodying the biblical concept of being the 'salt of the earth.'
The program received unanimous approval, with many attendees expressing keen interest in joining and accessing the monthly curriculum. Numerous participants also commended the program's relevance and the importance of the topics being discussed with young girls. Several expressed a desire to start their chapters and encourage other regions to adopt the initiative.
The Ontario Conference's Soul Sisters program, led by Patricia Lopez, is making waves within the North American Division. It is one of many pioneering efforts led by the Ontario Conference to foster spiritual growth and change lives in our church and community.
