Miracles and Decisions Mark Durham Fil-Can’s Evangelistic Series
November 20, 2025 | Ferdinand Regalado | Durham Filipino-Canadian Seventh-day Adventist Church
The Durham Filipino-Canadian Seventh-day Adventist Church recently concluded its first major prophecy-centred evangelistic series entitled “Revealing Hope: Christ at the Heart of Prophecy.” Held over several weekends from October 18 through November 8, 2025, the series focused on interpreting the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation through the lens of Jesus Christ—the heart of biblical prophecy.
Despite facing significant hurdles initially—including challenges in securing a venue—the series unfolded in extraordinary ways. At first, the church had no confirmed location for the proposed dates. However, in a remarkable turn of events, their hosting congregation—St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Whitby—opened its doors for selected dates: October 18-20, 25-27, and November 1-3, culminating in a final event on November 8.
Pastor Ferdinand Regalado, who leads the Durham Fil-Can and Scarborough Filipino churches, was the main speaker for the series, with church leaders fully engaged in preparing, praying, and supporting the program. One elder remarked, “This is the first time our church has conducted an evangelistic series like this—and we’re excited about what God is going to do.”
Each evening began with a seven-minute “health snippet,” delivered by health professionals from Durham Fil-Can and sister churches. These practical natural health presentations set the tone for what followed: a Christ-centred study of complex biblical prophecies, made accessible and engaging. Participation was lively—with Pastor Regalado’s wife, Charito, leading an interactive Question-and-Answer segment each night. Viewers also joined online via the church’s YouTube livestream.
Music played a key role in uplifting the spiritual atmosphere. The series’ theme song—“Discover the Future with Hope”—was composed specifically for the series by music leader Willer Quezon. A chorus of gratitude frequently filled the sanctuary as musicians and singers prepared hearts for the prophetic messages.
The fruits of these efforts soon became evident. Five individuals were baptized during the final Sabbath of the series, but God had one more surprise in store. During the closing appeal, a woman named Cordial, who had been quietly attending church for some time, stood up and stepped forward to dedicate her life to Jesus. Later that same afternoon, she was the first to arrive at the church for baptism, tears flowing down her face as she surrendered her life to Christ at the baptismal pool. Several children also responded to the call, demonstrating their desire to prepare for baptism through Bible studies.
Behind the scenes, many church members served faithfully — including emcees, AV technicians, hospitality teams, deacons, ushers, registration workers, and intercessors who gathered each morning at 6:00 AM for 30 minutes during the two weeks leading up to the event. That prayer initiative has continued to this day as the church enters a season of nurturing and discipleship.
One unexpected blessing came after the series concluded—the leadership of St. Andrew’s Church chose not to charge Durham Fil-Can rent for the venue. Additionally, the evangelism budget was lower than expected. The church testifies, “... from one miracle to another, God has shown us that where He leads, He provides.”
Among the newly baptized, one shared: “It took me 40 years of wandering far from God—but now I’ve come home at last.”
Durham Fil-Can looks forward with anticipation to another evangelistic series next year. This effort supports the Ontario Conference’s Pentecost 2025 and Beyond initiative, demonstrating that when God’s people unite in mission, miracles begin to unfold.
