Academy Day at Crawford Adventist Academy
Spirit Day in Full Effect
December 4, 2025 | Chris Perrotte | OCN
On November 14, 2025, Crawford Adventist Academy (CAA) Main Campus held its annual Academy Day. It is an Open House that usually takes place in November. Holding it at this point in the school year gives parents and students interested in Crawford the chance to consider either continuing or joining the school to advance their Christian education.
“We try to give them a full-day experience at Crawford, including a bit of academics, spirituality, and music. We also organise tours where we speak with parents, hold a Q&A (Questions & Answers) session, and conclude with a house league, which is part of the Crawford legacy. There are four houses named after the Principals. Students are also introduced to the physical and athletic side of things,” explained Derrick Hall, Director of Guidance, Recruitment and Community Engagement for Crawford.
It is a full-day event that offers insight into what Crawford and Christian education can provide to prospective students whose parents are interested in enrolling their children. By observing current students perform in the school band, choir, and singing, as well as viewing art displays and learning about their academic programs, parents get a sense of life at Crawford. They also understand the significance of a Christian education.
“Things are changing, and having good morals is really important, and what we do here is try to teach the students the way they should grow,” said Derrick Hall. “They don’t always move in that path, but after repetition, they get it. Therefore, we strive to make a meaningful difference. We strive to operate like a family and deliver a balance — the academic, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical aspects. We try to encourage parents to send their children from a young age because we know it’s easier to train them in the way they should grow.”
Kayla Purchas is a student who has attended Crawford since Junior Kindergarten. She shared what has been rewarding for her growing up in this school environment. “Probably the most rewarding thing is the friends I’ve made. A lot of us have been here since day one. I’ve known some of these people for almost 14 years. Almost my whole life. They’re really like family to me. It is nice that we developed such a strong connection. At public schools, you get to see them and then go your separate ways afterwards. I feel the friendships here are really going to last because of how much you do with these people and how long you’ve known them. You really get to build your own little family, which I really like.”
If you ever have the chance to speak with a Crawford alumnus, visit during an Alumni Homecoming or attend next year’s Academy Day, you will gain a sense of the camaraderie and connection formed during a student’s time at the school.
Academy Day highlights all the resources they offer to support a student's success. As a parent of a Grade 8 student, Georgiana Jeanpie-Johnson has observed the impact Crawford has had on her child.
“The quality of education is next level. I found that, personally, for my daughter, Crawford brought her to a new level. More confidence and actually helped her academically to excel and soar as opposed to where she was before.”
Crawford's statistics indicate that their graduate students are highly competitive and qualify for top schools.
If you are seeking a better place to support your child’s education, consider Crawford Adventist Academy. Their motto is ‘Committed to Excellence,’ and they have been helping students strive for this goal since 1953.
