With funds collected by the Ontario Conference and additional contributions from ADRA, nearly $70,000 has been sent to the Philippines.
These resources are being deployed directly within our TOGETHER project areas to support the most disadvantaged households, with a particular focus on indigenous communities that were severely impacted by the recent typhoons.
The funds are currently supporting three high-priority areas:
Cash for Shelter
Immediate financial assistance is being provided to families whose homes were damaged or destroyed. This support enables them to purchase essential building materials and start the physical restoration of their homes right away.
Back-to-School Initiatives
To prevent disruptions in education, these funds supply children with essential school supplies and learning materials. Beyond academics, this initiative serves as a vital safeguard within the community, helping to protect children and youth against gender-based violence (GBV).
Livelihood Support (Farming)
Since many of our beneficiaries are farmers who have lost their entire harvests and seed stocks, part of the funds is being allocated to supply seeds and tools for the upcoming planting season. This is a vital step in restoring long-term food security for the region.
Meanwhile, roof repair work in Jamaica is ongoing, and these efforts are helping to improve the lives of those affected.
