Featuring Dr. Bill Payne, AMC 2026 Workshop Presenter
January 28, 2026 | Personal Ministries | Ontario Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Attendees of the Ontario Conference Adventist Ministries Convention (AMC) can look forward to a dynamic lineup of speakers and workshop presenters when the event takes place March 13–14, 2026, at the Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel & Suites in Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Dr. Bill Payne, Director of Personal Ministries & Sabbath School of the North-American Division, will be conducting a two-part workshop entitled, “Sabbath School Imagined.” Through this workshop, attendees will discover the lost elements that have grown Sabbath School over the years. Sabbath School was designed to be a natural small group that thrives and keeps people connected. Since Sabbath School is the discipleship arm of the church, why has it atrophied? We will explore the slogan of the Sabbath School to WIN, HOLD, and TRAIN women, men, young adults, youth, boys, and girls for Christ.
Originally from Jamaica, Payne felt called to ministry early in life and eventually relocated to the United States. He earned a B.A. in theology from Southwestern Adventist University, a Master’s in Organisational Management, and a Master of Divinity from the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. In 2022, he completed a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) at Liberty University, with his thesis focusing on church revitalisation, particularly emphasising Sabbath School and small group ministries.
Before his current NAD position, Payne served as director of the Voice of Prophecy Bible School Department, helping churches organise Bible schools across North America and internationally. He has also served as a pastor in several conferences and held departmental leadership roles—including small group ministries, Sabbath School, and youth ministries—particularly during his tenure in the Hawaii and Indiana Conferences.
As NAD director, Dr. Payne focuses on revitalising Sabbath School and promoting personal ministries, especially through small group ministry. He emphasises discipleship that integrates Bible study, fellowship, community outreach, and mission.
Payne is married to his wife Audrey, who also works with the Voice of Prophecy, and they have an adult daughter. In his personal life, he enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, boating, and snorkelling, reflecting his appreciation for nature and family time.
