A Call for Assistance to the Philippines
November 13, 2025 | Administration | Ontario Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Dear Ontario Adventist Family,
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our members and congregations for your support in the Wake of Hurricane Melissa. It has been a true reflection of the love of Christ in action.
However, even as we were responding to that call, another devastating disaster struck—this time in the Philippines. Typhoon Uwan (Fung-Wong), the 21st tropical cyclone to impact the country this year, made landfall on November 9, 2025, as a Category 5 super typhoon. The storm has caused catastrophic damage, especially in the Bicol Region, which has reported the largest number of displaced families and individuals.
Our hearts and prayers are with all those affected—particularly our brothers and sisters who have family members in the devastated areas. We encourage all members to respond with compassion once more. This time by donating through ADRA Canada at www.adra.ca and selecting “the Philippine Disaster Response” option.
For those who prefer to give by cash or cheque, you may mark your contribution on your tithe envelope under “ADRA Philippine Disaster.” Every donation, regardless of size, makes a difference in bringing relief, comfort, and hope to those in distress.
Jesus reminded us that as we draw closer to His return, “there will be famines and earthquakes in various places” (Matthew 24:7, NIV). Yet, amid these challenges, we are called to respond with faith, compassion, and readiness to serve. Each act of kindness is a testimony that God’s love remains active and present through His people.
As Scripture reminds us: “Do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16 (NIV)
With gratitude and blessings,
