Hope Vision Fellowship Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary
Posted: November 4th, 2026

On October 24, 2026, Hope Vision Fellowship (HVF) celebrated its 10th anniversary with a wonderful time of worship, reflection, and fellowship. What began as a vision shared by a few has become a reality through the support, dedication, and commitment of many. Ten years later, this remarkable ministry continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people who are visually impaired.
However, the story of Hope Vision Fellowship began long before ten years ago. Its roots go back to a group of blind and visually impaired campers who wanted to meet more frequently than once a year at camp. From that desire grew the idea of establishing monthly gatherings. They secured space at a hotel and began meeting regularly, laying the foundation for what would eventually become Hope Vision Fellowship.
In 2016, Pastor Theodore Sargeant joined the story as Hope Fellowship moved toward formal recognition within the Ontario Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. On November 26, 2016, the fellowship was officially welcomed under the Conference’s umbrella and became known as Hope Vision Fellowship, the first church of its kind in North America.
Twenty-five charter members were officially recorded at its inception. Today, 18 members of that original group continue to attend, joined by several others who have become part of the fellowship over the years. Their continued participation reflects the strength, resilience, and enduring value of this unique ministry.
Like many congregations, Hope Vision Fellowship faced significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the church found creative ways to remain connected through Zoom worship services, Bible studies, and even a virtual Christmas party complete with a turkey dinner! These experiences demonstrated that physical distance need not diminish the bonds of faith, friendship, and community.
The 10th-anniversary celebration gave members and guests a chance to reflect on the journey, rejoice in God’s goodness, and renew their commitment to the ministry’s vision.
Pastor Dexter Thomas, president of Christian Services, delivered the anniversary message. As someone who is also visually impaired, Pastor Thomas brought a personal understanding to his presentation. He encouraged members of Hope Vision Fellowship to remember that blindness should not define their abilities or limit what they can accomplish. His message was a timely reminder that, with faith, determination, and the support of a caring community, individuals can continue to pursue their purpose and make valuable contributions to society.
Pastor Cyril Millett III, executive secretary and vice-president for administration of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada (SDACC), spoke about the importance of this ministry and the ongoing support provided by the SDACC. He also shared a personal connection to the fellowship, recalling his time as a director at Camp Frenda and his acquaintance with several HVF members. His remarks highlighted the longstanding relationships and institutional support that have helped sustain this important work.
Ontario Conference President Jakov Bibulović also reflected on the significance of Hope Vision Fellowship and the special place it holds within the wider church community. He spoke warmly about enjoying some of the fellowship’s activities, including its Christmas party. As part of the celebration, Pastor Bibulovic presented the church with a certificate of recognition in honour of its 10th anniversary.
The occasion was a fitting way to mark this historic milestone. Hope Vision Fellowship’s journey is a testament to what can be accomplished when vision, faith, perseverance, and community support come together. Its continued success would not be possible without the many volunteers and individuals who give their time, energy, and resources to keep the church a welcoming place of worship, encouragement, and belonging.
We must give special recognition to Charles Thomas and Pat and Ralph Page, whose dedication and contributions have been integral to the success of this ministry. Although they could not attend the anniversary celebration, their commitment and service remain deeply appreciated.
As Hope Vision Fellowship looks to the future, we invite everyone to pray for its members, volunteers, and staff. May God continue to bless this unique church, strengthen its mission, and guide its work in the years ahead.
Ten years of faith, fellowship, and service, and many more to come! We look forward to celebrating another decade of worship, friendship, and shared ministry as Hope Vision Fellowship continues to be a beacon of hope and inclusion for people who are visually impaired.
