The Ontario Conference Adventurer, Master Guide, and Pathfinder (AMP) Club Ministries join the entire Conference family in mourning the passing of Pastor Gordon Pifher on October 9, 2026, and celebrating his remarkable legacy of leadership, service, and dedication to youth ministry.
Just days before his passing, Pastor Pifher was honoured in absentia at the AMP Leadership Summit, held October 1–4, 2026, in recognition of his pioneering contributions to Youth and Club Ministries in the Ontario Conference. The tribute below celebrated his visionary leadership and the lasting impact of his ministry on generations of young people and church leaders:
Pastor Gordon Pifher's ministry represents a definitive turning point for youth and leadership development in the Ontario Conference. Serving as the Ontario Conference Youth Director from 1979 to 1985, Pastor Pifher arrived at a crucial moment when local club ministries were growing but fragmented.
Recognizing that powerful youth ministry requires unified leadership, he became the organizational architect who expanded the conference federation. By intentionally merging the Adventist Youth (AY) and Pathfinder leaders into a single, cohesive organization, he laid the administrative groundwork that directly paved the way for the eventual birth of our independent Master Guide Council.
Pastor Pifher also caught a broad spiritual vision for early childhood discipleship, introducing and implementing the Adventurer Club ministry (ages 6-9) across Ontario to ensure that leadership training began at the earliest ages.
His profound administrative gifts and passion for structural growth eventually led him to vital international leadership roles, serving as President of the British Columbia Conference and later as the first Vice President for Media Ministries at the North American Division (NAD). Pastor Gordon Pifher is currently serving as the Chairman of the Board for the Voice of Prophecy, a foundational Seventh-day Adventist media ministry.
Today, at the AMP Leadership Summit, we honour Pastor Pifher as a pioneer who didn't just lead; he built the unified structural pipelines that still empower, support, and resource our Master Guides.
Pastor Selburn Fray, Ontario Conference AMP Club Ministries Director, together with the entire AMP family, extends heartfelt condolences to the Pifher family during this time of sorrow and loss.
As we honour Pastor Pifher's life and faithful service, we give thanks to God for his enduring contributions to the Church and find comfort in the blessed hope of the resurrection and the soon return of Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:16–18).
His earthly ministry has come to an end, but his legacy of faith, leadership, and service lives on.
