A Joyful Harvest: 19 Inducted into the Taurus Master Guide Club

“Which one of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.” — Luke 15:4–6

September 19, 2026, was a Sabbath to remember at Toronto Central Seventh-day Adventist Church as we celebrated the Master Guide Induction and Consecration Service of the Taurus Master Guide Club.

What began with plans to induct nine individuals became a beautiful testimony of God's leading. Following an appeal, 10 additional individuals came forward, bringing the total number of Master Guide Trainees inducted into the Taurus Master Guide Club to 19.

Nineteen individuals stood before God and the church and committed to preparing themselves for ministry and service. Nineteen lives saying, in essence, “Here am I; send me.”

Our theme for this year is:

Reach. Restore. Reconnect. Retain.

These four words represent more than a theme; they represent our ministry commitment. By God's grace, we desire to be intentional in ministry—intentionally reaching young people, restoring those who may have become disconnected, reconnecting them with Christ and His church, and creating an environment where they can remain rooted, grow, serve, and become disciples who make disciples.

Among the 19 individuals inducted, six were invested from the Guide class. Their journey is a beautiful reminder that Pathfinder ministry can become a pathway to deeper leadership and service. We celebrate their accomplishments while recognising that investiture is not the end; it is another step toward greater responsibility in God's work.

As the Master Guide Director, my heart is overjoyed to see so many individuals make this commitment to ministry. But I am doubly blessed and especially grateful to the young people who chose to become Master Guide Trainees. Seeing young people choose to invest their time, gifts, and energy in ministry gives us tremendous hope for the future.

Luke 15 reminds us of the heart of our ministry. The shepherd noticed the one who was missing. He went looking. He did not simply wait for the sheep to find its way back. He intentionally pursued it, and when he found it, there was rejoicing.

That is the kind of ministry we want to cultivate.

We want to notice the young person who is missing.
We want to reach the one who feels forgotten.
We want to restore those who have been hurt.
We want to reconnect those who have drifted away.
And we want to create relationships and ministries that help our young people remain connected to Jesus and His church.

Reach. Restore. Reconnect. Retain.

This is our commitment. This is our prayer. And this is the work we believe God has called us to do.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Pastor Orlando Patterson and Assistant Pastor Shomari Blair for their continued support of the Master Guide Ministry and for helping to create an environment where ministry and leadership can flourish.

We are also deeply grateful for the support and encouragement of our District Coordinator, Jasmine Lawrence, whose leadership and presence continue to strengthen the ministry. We acknowledge and appreciate the support of our Area Coordinators—Rod Bernal, Celina Parkes, Melissa Nelson, and Sheena Bentham.

Special appreciation is also extended to the First Fil-Can Oracles MG Club Director, Gail Bernal, and to Taurus Pathfinder Director Jane Daniels for their presence, partnership, and commitment to the development of our young people and leaders.

To our 19 Master Guide Trainees, we are praying for you. May God strengthen you, equip you, and keep you faithful to the commitment you made. May you never lose sight of why you answered the call. May your leadership point young people to Jesus, and may your service make an eternal difference.

And to the Taurus Master Guide Club, may this be only the beginning of what God will accomplish through us.

Nineteen said yes.

Now, by God’s grace, let us reach, restore, reconnect, and retain.
