Camp Meeting to Feature Sign Language, French and Spanish Interpretation

In its effort to connect with as many as possible, Ontario Conference’s first-ever virtual camp meeting will also offer sign language, French and Spanish interpretation.

While American Sign Language (ASL) has long been a feature of in-person camp meeting, it will be the first time French and Spanish speakers will hear sermons and other features in their own languages.

“Although we are an English-speaking province,” says Pastor Mansfield Edwards, Ontario Conference president, “we have a significant number of members whose mother tongue is either French or Spanish.  We value everyone and we recognize that some are fairly new to this country and are doing their best to learn English as adults. It is hard work for them so we want them to hear, in their own language, how we can connect like Jesus.”

Speaking of ASL, Edwards added: “We have always welcomed our brothers and sisters requiring ASL interpretation at camp meeting so, as we moved to a virtual platform, we committed ourselves to include it. Again, because we want everyone to benefit from this important camp meeting. In Ontario, no one must be left behind.”

American sign language, French and Spanish interpretation will be available for all morning and evening worship sessions. French and Spanish speakers will also benefit from interpretation during the 9:10 a.m. Bible study with Dr. Joseph kidder, and the 5:00 p.m. plenary session with Dr. Peter Roennfeldt.

To benefit from these and all the other features of Ontario’s first virtual camp meeting, register today and encourage your friends to do the same.
