Our Mission: To encourage local youth leaders to disciple (mentor) youth for Jesus Christ and to help them properly train youth to share their faith and give service to others.
The Purpose of the Youth Ministries Department: To equip local youth leaders to lead the next generation:
- to seek Christ,
- to serve others and
- to share the Advent message with Ontario and the world.
Our Focus: Discipleship and Service
Our Tasks:
· To have youth know their individual worth in Christ and saved in God’s Kingdom.
· Help youth discover and develop their spiritual gifts and use them to benefit others.
· Equip and empower youth for a life of service in God's church, in their community and globally.
· Ensure the integration of youth into all aspects of church life and leadership in order that they might be full participants in the mission of the church.
· To empower leaders and youth for ministry through training seminars and outreach events.
· Encouraging the practice of spiritual disciplines for strengthen the spiritual life.
· Strengthen the local church through the development of strong youth leadership.
· To help youth discover Christian principles and values by which to live.
· Support ministers in their pastoral role to youth.
· Help leaders improve the quality of ministry for and by youth in the church.
· To encourage young people to reflect on their relationship with God, and to help them develop habits/disciplines that strengthen that relationship.
· Develop effective Youth Federations across the conference.
· Develop a positive intercultural ministry that ministers to the needs of our diverse communities.
Our Methods Includes:
- Seeking Divine guidance in the Word.
- Achieving a balanced ministry by incorporating the biblical dynamics of fellowship, nurture, worship, and mission.
- Doing research to find areas that need attention and to develop youth ministry resource materials.
- Coordinating and conducting local, regional and conference-wide training events.
- Assisting regional programming through funding.
- Meeting with area ministerial councils to discuss pastoral needs and expectations and coordinate youth programming with the pastors.
- Facilitating the growth and proper functioning of conference-wide, youth ministry, coordinating committees.
