How to set up Outlook 2003

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Which version of Outlook am I using?

There are a number of versions of Microsoft Outlook available. These instructions provide a step by step guide to setting up Outlook 2003.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Open the Outlook 2003 Options panel

From Outlook 2003, click on the Tools menu and select Options.

Tip: If you are unable to see Options click on the double arrow at the bottom to expand the list.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Set up an email account

  • From the Options panel, select the Mail Setup tab
  • In the 'E-mail account field' click on E-mail Accounts

  • Choose the option Add a new e-mail account and click on Next

Choose the option POP3 and click on Next

From the 'E-mail Settings' field, enter the information below:

  • Your Name: e.g. - John Smith
  • E-mail address: e.g. - mail@adventistontario.org
  • Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.1and1.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.1and1.com
  • User Name: same as your email address
  •  

Then Press More Settings

A window will appear.  Click on the Outgoing Server tab then check mark the box next to My out going server (SMTP) requires authentication 

Once you have done that click on the Advanced tab in that same window, then change the Outgoing server (SMTP) number from 25 to 587.   Click OK,  Next, and Finish.  You are now ready the use your new email account.
