Hope 2016—the Journey! Begins September 17!

Hope 2016—the Journey! Begins September 17!

In just two days’ time, on September 17, 2016, in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), the long-awaited autumn evangelistic series of Hope 2016—the Journey! will begin!   It kicks off with the first two of the four meetings scheduled for East, West, North and Central regions of the GTA.

Pastor Bill Santos and Pastor Mathew Feeley will lead meetings until Sabbath, October 1, at Downsview Seventh-day Adventist Church, 37 Bakersfield St, in Downsview, and in Hall 4 at the International Centre, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga, respectively.

The series at Downsview Adventist Church is the joint effort of churches in the Metro North Central district. Churches in the west and north-west of the city joined their efforts to hold their series at the International Centre.

The two-week series is expected to attract many visitors, and organisers are praying that God will bless the churches’ efforts to invite and take their friends to experience joyful worship and hear messages of hope and salvation.

The other two meetings—in the east and central regions, will commence on September 24 and October 1, respectively.  Pastor Mansfield Edwards will be the evangelist at Global Kingdom Ministries, 1250 Markham Road in Scarborough. Pastor Daniel A. Duffis, from New Jersey, USA, will lead in the Central district at York Memorial Collegiate Institute, 2690 Eglington Ave W. Toronto.

Organisers are making it very clear that these series of meetings should not be considered as the evangelistic event of the year, but as a journey.  In an email, on Monday, September 12, 2016, to pastors in the Metro North Central district and Ontario Conference personnel, Pastor Robert Greaves, district secretary said, “…the journey goes beyond the weeks we have set aside for the nightly preaching. However, those 13-14 nights are a climaxing of our effort.” Greaves’ emphasis is that Hope 2016 is a journey that is continuous.  Organisers want churches to adopt evangelism as a culture, a way of living, the purpose for which they exist.
